The Opportunity

Our Board & Executive Director are leading and scaling up our team to support organizations with our expertise in developing decarbonization action plans and building retrofit and resilience strategies. We are looking for a Consultant with two to five years of experience in engineering, architecture and / or green buildings.

What you will do

You will support the Affine Climate Solutions team and work on projects such as:

  • Emissions calculations, decarbonization target setting and strategy development, research and analysis. Familiarity and experience with climate frameworks and tools like GHG Protocol and Accounting Standard, TCFD, and SBTi is an asset.
  • Consulting with building owners and managers as well as financial institutions that are pioneering retrofit and development efforts to minimize operational and whole-life cycle carbon and work towards net zero emissions buildings.
  • Project managing net zero retrofits to confirm retrofit scope, contractor and procurement strategy, and business case. This can include visiting existing buildings to investigate building systems and to perform carbon and energy assessments for retrofits.
  • Providing organizational support and expansion functions including proposal drafting, presentation development, financial modelling, business development, and networking.

What you bring to the role

  • Two to five years experience in engineering, architecture, construction or building science and / or consulting.
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in an engineering, architecture, or building science related field preferred; or, previous experience in building design or construction-related field.
  • Energy efficiency / GHG management; including a technical understanding of decarbonization mechanisms and technologies and renewable energy.
  • Experience with conducting energy audits, GHG and lifecycle assessments, identifying decarbonization strategies and associated cost/benefit analysis is an asset.
  • Research and analytical skills - you’re able to identify, review and synthesize key findings in scientific and engineering literature, reports, other relevant publications to client audiences and project teams.
  • Ability to write concise, clear and effective narratives in reporting, in presentations, and contributions to proposals.
  • Personal attributes: Listen and seek first to understand, life-long learner, communicate clearly, get results, inspire, questioning, detail-oriented, organized, and analytical.
  • Excellent client service skills with an aptitude to understand the clients’ business and maintain strong client relationships.
