RWDI is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to join our Noise, Acoustics and Vibration (NAV) team in Toronto or Guelph, ON as junior Scientist/Engineer specializing in Environmental Noise. The successful candidate may be a new graduate with a passion for environmental noise, or may have a maximum of two years’ experience working in the field.  Applicants without prior experience should demonstrate their passion for the field in their cover letter.


The role includes but is not limited to:

  • Conducting field measurements at sites throughout Ontario
  • Producing high quality, thoughtful analysis using commercially available software packages and in-house tools
  • Taking ownership of timeline and budget to deliver a successful project from data acquisition through analysis, consulting, and reporting
  • Taking a client-focused approach, where your technical skills support the success of your client’s projects
  • Communicating complex technical concepts in straight-forward language
  • Adhering to a defined quality assurance process


Note that practitioners within the NAV team are purely technical.  This role does not involve project management.  There is, however, substantial opportunity to build relationships with clients and support the project management team.


We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in an applicable engineering discipline
  • Current registration or ability to register with PEO as an EIT or P.Eng
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A demonstrated interest in noise, with up to two years’ experience in an environmental noise consulting environment
  • Availability to work in-person in our Guelph or Toronto offices, and frequently in the field


The following attributes are seen as assets for this position:

  • Consulting experience
  • Experience with data acquisition and/or digital electronics and network communications
  • Demonstrable history of working safely on construction sites
